God’s love for us does not grant us the privilege to fail. It is not a free pass to live without discipline. His love, in fact, calls us to obedience and growth. Much like the love of a parent for their child, God’s love compels us to be better, to learn, and to become the best version of ourselves. Just as a parent lovingly corrects and guides a child—even denying certain privileges to ensure the child’s growth—God’s love for us is meant to transform us into better individuals.
True love involves correction, discipline, and a desire to improve. God’s love includes the same principles: discipline and obedience. Just as parents train their children to have good character, God wants us to grow in goodness through His guidance. God’s love doesn’t excuse wrong behaviour or justify sin. Instead, it calls us to do better and strive to align with His will.
When I make mistakes, especially when I see my mother disappointed by my actions, I know she loves me, but I also see her desire for me to improve. God, too, is grieved by our sins, not because He loves us less, but because He knows we can do better. His love for us is constant, but He wants us to become better through our obedience and actions. In the same way, when we truly love God, we are willing to sacrifice our wrongdoings. To honour God, we must obey His laws, love others, and listen to His instructions.
We must make sacrifices, especially in areas where we know we are wrong, to show our gratitude and please God. God has blessed us in countless ways, and His love for us is immeasurable. So, how else can we demonstrate our love for Him through obedience? When we love someone, we willingly make sacrifices—whether it’s time, energy, or lifestyle changes—to show that love. Similarly, we are called to love God, whose love for us is endless and perfect.
God’s Plan and Our Commitment
(Sirach 2:4 vs 6)
We often struggle with impatience, especially when waiting on God’s timing. His plans for us are different from our own, and sometimes, they take longer to unfold than we would like. Yet, in our impatience, we may miss the lessons God is trying to teach us about trust, faith, and perseverance. We might make mistakes, but ultimately, God’s will for our lives is perfect. He sees the entire picture—what we need today and what is coming tomorrow. If we could catch even a glimpse of our future, we would realize that many of our own plans might not be in our best interest, and we would rethink our decisions.
We are called to work and pray, but above all, we must trust that God will fulfill His promises in His perfect time. There are times when we feel overwhelmed, when our struggles seem endless, and when hope feels distant. But remember, no matter how much we strive on our own, God will provide when the time is right. The waiting period is not wasted—it teaches us vital lessons that strengthen our faith and resilience. It prepares us for what is ahead and builds the character needed for our future.
We must involve God in every decision, trusting that He knows exactly what we need, even if it doesn’t always make sense at the time. God’s plans may seem complicated, painful, or even frustrating, but the outcome is always for our good. His ultimate goal is for us to shine and fulfill our potential.
Our responsibility is to never give up. Instead, we should continue to pray, work, learn, and trust that everything will unfold according to His will. God is preparing each of us for something greater, and it is through His guidance that we will become the people He created us to be.
