God blesses everyone irrespective of background and way of life. The issue is whenever we talk about God’s blessing, the first thing we look for are the material aspects (like wealth, housing, cars), and we tend to forget about the things we cannot really see, like health, good friends, happiness, peace of mind and spiritual benefits. This is because we are often blind to God’s gifts, burdened with so many worries, and expect visual things. God is favouring us with what we need and deserve. God can never be responsible for our actions; we are the ones accountable for the way we live our lives. God blesses us all the time, but sometimes, God’s blessing can also be tied to our way of life. Often, we also expect God’s graces even when we are mean and unkind to others; our lives do not serve as a blessing to others around us. We do not give others peace but expect peace. Sometimes, what we give to others is what we will receive.

The way we seek God’s blessing applies to the human relationship; people show love to others based on what they will gain from others, which is wrong. We are called to live as people of God and to love, which is selfless. If God can send His son to die for everyone, it shows that God’s blessings are more generous than we think or imagine. Second chances are also God’s blessings to us to repent and choose to become better persons. The grace and strength given to us for improvement and in times of weakness are also God’s blessings.

Sometimes, we are so carried away by the things we think God has done for us that we also forget what God did for us unknowingly. If only our eyes could be opened to see the things that God do for us every day of our lives, how He takes care of our problems, both the ones we think we are in control of and the ones we have no control over, then maybe we might learn to be more thankful and humble. God’s blessings are numerous; for some, it is the gift of being strong even till old age; for some, it is the gift of being a light to others.

God is always ahead of us, planning and bringing solutions to all our problems. That is why Matthew 6:26 to 34 “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you, by worrying, add a single hour to your life[a]?

28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendour was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

We must always feel grateful to our God for everything created (plants, animals) was just for man’s benefit. God’s love for us is so immeasurable and so difficult to understand or comprehend. It is a love that transcends all. The air we breathe, the food we eat, or the water to drink shows how much God’s love for us is more significant than our present problems. Therefore, no matter the situation we find ourselves in, we should always endeavour to thank God, for He is still ready and working to take care of us. We should try to live better lives, not due to God’s blessing, but because of love for God.
