Broken Bond

Broken Bond
Growing up, we did together.
Brother, Sister, I call them,
We bonded in love with innocence.
Differences we embraced in each other.
Yet unaware of the changes that would come

Fighting for one another, we did.
Brother, Sister, who made you cry?
Often we will ask,
Bruised, Blooded for the sake of one another.
Yet unaware of the enemy that could come.

Now, we face the changes,
Now, we see the differences,
Now, we start looking for spaces,
Now, our bonds seem shaky,
yet, unaware that the world is waiting.

Greed has overtaken us,
Competition is our desire.
Envy has become our Brother,
Pride, our Sister.
Yet, unaware that the enemy has taken root.

Now, our bond means nothing.
Forgetting that we sucked the same breast,
Came from the same womb.
Faced battles together.
Ate and slept together.
Yet, unaware that our world has changed.

Brother, Sister, what do you say?
Brother, Sister, what have we done?
For the blood is thicker than the water, they often say,
But our blood now means nothing.
For we have become foes,
And our ego has destroyed us.
Yet, unaware of the broken cord.
